14 Reasons To Gather

Grand gatherings, like family reunions, weddings, and corporate retreats, are now more important than ever. Connecting with people after many months of isolation can lead to more meaningful relationships, feelings of belonging and a lifetime of memories. Oakwood Resort shares 14 additional reasons to gather and celebrate in this article.

What Is Behind a Memory?

Did you know there is a science behind how we remember events? First, we need a sensory event that triggers our brains. Then the information moves into short term, working memory. Finally, the information moves into long term memory if neurological synopsis occurs. We say get those brain neurons working with an event! Gathering For Lifetime Memories – Now Even More Important

The past year has been a challenge for so many with an inability to socially gather due to a global pandemic. As businesses within the industry, challenges of survival were certainly present. But the toll on people in general has been immense. Cancellations for family gatherings, weddings, reunions, company retreats, fundraising events, BBQs, company picnics and other social gatherings has created stress, loneliness, and even some mental health issues for many of us. Now that the world is reopening, it is important to remember that creating lifetime memories by gathering together is a critical function of society. As humans, we are hard wired to gather. Seeing friends, touching and gathering in groups is in our nature and can be a critical activity, as many of us have learned during the COVID19 pandemic. Many new health risks have been uncovered as a result of being unable to gather. Heart disease, depression, and even deaths have been reported due to isolation (Miller, 2020). These ailments can be reduced through social interactions that counter the negative feelings of stress, like having party, gathering for a meal or even a hug. The power of connection through a shared experience is an even more interesting phenomenon. People crave the desire for acceptance, approval and belonging. When an experience is shared, these needs are easily met (Khazan, 2014). Family gatherings, corporate events, small business team gatherings, appreciation parties, and other forms of physical interaction create lifelong shared memories that can reconnect people in amazing ways. The Wright Group Event Services has been serving up these memories for over 30 years. As we reemerge, our passion and enthusiasm for events within the Colorado community has only grown. 5 Basic Tips to Organize a Successful Event

Being in charge of any large-scale event is a big job, but someone’s got to do it! If that responsibility has fallen on you, there’s no reason to be intimidated. By following these five basic tips, you’ll find your event is a success. How to Plan a Successful Event When you’re ready to start preparations for your event, gather a committee together and come up with a plan. Your plan should define the purpose of the event itself. For example, you might be planning a musical concert, but why? Is it for a fun community gathering? Are you entertaining out-of-town guests? Is the concert a way to show appreciation to a particular group of people? Are you donating all proceeds to a non-profit? A clear purpose will guide your planning. Once you have the purpose all figured out, start planning the details. Who are your guests? Who are your performers? Will you be serving a meal? How about refreshments? What day do you plan to hold this event? What time will you need to have the decorators there? Think through every last detail from today to the days following the special occasion and write it all out. Event Budgeting Once you know the details about your event, you can come up with a budget for everything that will cost money. This would typically include decorating, catering, performing, and marketing, as well as a variety of other aspects. With your planning committee, decide which aspects are of utmost importance and be sure they are allotted the right amount of funds. Do you plan to do a fundraiser before the event? Are you looking for donations? Don’t forget to include those funds in your budget, but keep an open mind to the fact that you may not collect the entire amount you’re hoping to. Secure Two Event Locations Any time you plan an event, it’s a smart idea to have a plan B, especially if your initial location is outdoors. In case of inclement weather, have a second location secured. Even if your first location is an indoor setting, things can go wrong, so it’s never a bad idea to have a backup plan. With your second location, you can often put a deposit down to hold it up until a certain date before your event. If you feel confident your first location will pan out just fine, you can cancel the second location and get your deposit back. If that is not your situation and you would rather hold onto both just in case, be sure you can afford two locations during your budget meeting. Delegate Event Tasks With your plan in hand and a list of things that need to get done, you can begin delegating tasks. Communication is a key element in delegation because you want to ensure everyone does their part to make the event a success. Check and double check back with each person at multiple times throughout the preparation phase to be sure they’re following through. If someone needs help and is afraid to ask for it, they might be more inclined to mention something if you’re on their case. How to Promote your Event Your event will only be a success if you have people at it and they enjoy what they find there. Assign a generous amount of your budget to your marketing campaign, though not so much that it makes you cut back in other important areas. You might want to have a specific committee just for marketing to ensure the word gets out and people get excited to attend. Reserve Event Equipment With a plan in hand and a group of individuals ready to help, your event is off to a great start. Contact the Wright Group today to reserve the event equipment you need to successfully pull it off.

How to Set Up the Perfect Corporate Trade Show in Denver

Whether you are a small business just starting out or a larger, well-established company, chances are that at some point you will participate in one or many corporate trade shows. You want the actual event to be as successful as possible, but you may feel overwhelmed by managing this preparation along with your everyday work responsibilities. Read below to learn some tips on how to set up the perfect corporate trade show.   Identify Your Trade Show Goals First, you need to determine what your goals are. Are you there to increase your foothold in the industry, or rather to promote a new product or service? Clarifying your purpose for being there helps you ascertain what angle works best in terms of presentation and communication. Then, be sure to select the right people to represent your company at the trade show and assemble a team that works well together. Meet beforehand to convey your objectives. Identifying your goals and discussing them with your group unifies the message that you project to your customers and enables you to present a strong front.   Be Well Prepared for the Trade Show Preparation is the key to success at corporate trade show events. If you are well prepared, you feel more confident, and projecting confidence about your business is sure to attract new clients and retain existing ones. It also eliminates the possibility of something going wrong at the actual show. Remember that your goal is to engage with as many clients as possible, rather than scrambling to solve any issues that may arise. Begin by devising a solid checklist, covering everything from the early stages of planning through a trade show wrap-up once you are back home. Some items on your checklist may include: Setting your goals and budget Making travel arrangements for your staff Doing your research so you know your audience Preparing your booth set-up with equipment, presentation boards, and hand-out literature Purchasing quality and perhaps unique giveaways Scheduling meetings with your team before, during, and after the trade show   Focus on Visual Appeal of Your Booth You want your space to stand out for all of the right reasons. Your goal should be to come across as polished and capable. This means paying attention to detail when planning your booth. Allow sufficient time for designing the graphics and text for any boards and handouts, and be sure to proofread more than once. Think both inside and outside the box when it comes to your booth setup. Using the right and necessary amount of equipment such as tables and chairs gives a refined appearance. Things such as lighting, décor, and props can all be customized to transform your booth into a memorable, professional work of art.   Create a Solid Giveaway for the Trade Show One of the most effective ways to have the audience at corporate trade show events remember you are from the giveaways that you distribute. These personalized items should be useful and may be unique. You may choose to have them symbolize the product or service you represent, or merely advertise your company’s information. When planning your corporate trade show, be sure to contact Wright Group Event Services for all of your event equipment needs. We can provide everything necessary to help ensure that your function will be a success. From barricade and crowd control rentals to table rentals and lighting rentals to custom structure rentals, we have you covered.

Round Tables vs. Rectangle Tables

From wood and metal to glass, formal or informal, choosing the right dining table for your needs can be challenging. Do you often have surprise guests drop by for dinner? Is your home craft-central on the weekends? Are you throwing an event in Denver and need to rent a specific type of table? The right table shape depends on the answers to these questions and more. Small Space If your dining room is square, or the available dining space is limited, a table that helps maintain the balance and proportion of the room and accommodates four to eight diners comfortably is an ideal option. There is enough space for guests to maneuver around each other and no one feels crowded. Tables that have inserts, enabling them to expand, offer flexibility to seat more guests, if needed. A round dining table is also well-suited to smaller spaces. The smaller footprint creates a cozy environment, allowing everyone to relax and be comfortable. A center pedestal provides leg room for guests and has a clean, simple look. Large Groups For big families or frequent entertaining, a rectangular table may meet your needs. Larger groups can be accommodated in spaces that are narrow as dining tables may be as little as 30 inches wide. While wood tables create a classic Americana atmosphere, glass tables can make the area appear more spacious. If you entertain groups larger than ten frequently, you may want to find a table with at least two leaves. This can extend it enough to seat 12 to 14 diners comfortably. The type of base also plays an important role when choosing a rectangle dining table. Legs at the corners allow you to seat a maximum number of people along the long sides of the table. However, there are other considerations. A trestle base also allows you to add additional guests at the short sides of the table, without worrying about them straddling a corner leg. A pedestal base lets guests stretch out their legs, especially if the table is up to 60 inches wide. However, if there are drop ends being used, the table top may be a bit unstable if weight isn’t evenly distributed. Multi-Purpose Do you put puzzles together or use the dining table to create one-of-a-kind craft creations? A square table that can extend or a rectangular table offers flexibility for several purposes. Push it against the wall, and it can still provide functionality and style. Socializing Round tables encourage conversation and interaction. If you host game night, round tables enable everyone to reach the board in the center of the table. These tables also may have extenders, allowing them to expand to ovals for special occasions. Since there is no head of the table, there are no issues regarding hierarchy. An advantage of round tables is also that they have no corners, which makes it less dangerous for small children. What Is the Difference Between Laser Light and LED Light?

Proper lighting has the power to greatly enhance any event, from concerts and weddings to business gatherings. If you want to light up your event and make it memorable, let The Wright Group supply you with the perfect lighting rentals. We offer both LED and laser lights for you to choose from, with each type offering different benefits for your event. If you are not sure which kind of light will be the best to enhance your event, read on to see how these lights are different and what advantages each one offers. What Are LED Lights? Light-emitting diodes (LEDs) are semiconductor diodes that are constructed with several different elements, including gallium and arsenic. While the diode itself forces electricity to move in one direction, the mixture of elements within produce light. This combination creates an optical fiber transmitter that emits infrared radiation, which results in a multi-colored light that uses a variety of wavelengths. LED lights can be used creatively to highlight any element of an event. Showcase architectural features, enhance any décor theme, or illuminate the area with various colors for a unique, creative experience. LEDs are an excellent choice for your event due to the following benefits: • LED lighting fixtures have a long lifespan • LED lights can be programmed to emit a variety of colors • These lights are easy to program and use • They consume less energy than other types of lighting • LED lights are compact and can be adjusted or moved easily to change the lighting of your event Because LED lights have so many advantages, they are ideal for bright, well-lit events. Choose this type of lighting to create a soft, romantic atmosphere for a wedding, a stark, monochromatic look for a business event, or a dramatic backdrop for an art gallery. What Are Laser Lights? Lasers are highly-concentrated beams of infrared radiation. Because these intense beams each consist of a single wavelength, they are both coherent and monochromatic. This gives lasers the ability to produce graphics and holograms for laser shows and other events. Because laser lights spread less than two nanometers when they are on, they are suitable for a variety of events that use concentrated lighting. Any of the events listed below could be enhanced with dazzling laser lights, whether in the form of graphics or single, pulsing colors. • Concerts • Sports events • Launch parties, grand openings, and premieres • Trade shows for unique displays • Corporate events • Themed parties How Do Laser Lights and LED Lights Compare? While both laser and LED lights are composed of semiconducting diodes, they each have different characteristics. Lasers are more concentrated than LED lights and are often slightly more complicated to program and use, but they create more dazzling displays. LEDs typically last longer than lasers, while lasers are faster. The biggest difference between LED and laser lights is the way each one functions. LEDs have a higher output with wider bandwidths, meaning that they can produce a broad range of less-concentrated light. Lasers have a lesser output and a small bandwidth, produced with a tiny pinpoint of light. While these two types of lighting have many differences, they also have a few similarities. Both types can produce various colors, but each individual device can only emit one. Each can also be used creatively to enhance events and displays. How Do Lasers and LED Lights Benefit Different Events? Events without good lighting are dull and lifeless. Adding the right type of lighting can spice up any event to make it memorable. While lasers add a dazzling aspect to dramatic events like concerts, LED light is effective for creating the atmosphere you want for other special events. Lasers are stunning and have a mesmerizing effect on crowds. These pinpointed lights are perfect for drawing attention to specific areas of the event, such as when certain players are announced at sporting events. At concerts, lasers can create dazzling displays to coordinate with music. They can also be effective in advertising for events because they create eye-catching logos. LED lights can be soft or stark, depending on the needs of your event, and they are especially useful for drawing attention to particular elements. If you are planning a wedding in a venue where you want to showcase vaulted ceilings or elegant columns, LED lights are your best bet. If you have a business event where you need bright lighting, LED lights are an excellent choice. Nighttime outdoor activities could also benefit from the use of bright, powerful LED lights. Regardless of which type of lighting you choose to go with for your event, The Wright Group offers a great selection. Light up any kind of event, both indoor and outdoor, with the help of LED and laser lights for rent. Contact The Wright Group today for more information on how we can help you with all of your event needs and let us provide you with the perfect lighting to enhance any event.

How Do Fog Machines Make Fog?

To add an air of intrigue to the foundation’s annual cocktail party, increase the drama of a particular act in a play, or provide a supernatural aura to this year’s dance performance, all you need is a little fog to achieve the desired atmosphere. Though you have probably witnessed this technique in person, you may have wondered how this special effect is created and if it is possible to locate a fog machine for rent to use at your event. For the answers, look no further, as the following information will reveal the secrets and clear the cloudy haze. The Magic Elixir You have been put in charge of planning this year’s haunted house event and have been working for months to get all the details in place. It is now time to focus on the final touches and bring the affair to life. The central gathering place has been staged to look like the local cemetery, and only an eerie layer of mist and smoke is missing. You have heard from colleagues that simple methods such as dry ice and liquid nitrogen are options, but you are concerned about safety for both you and your guests. You are also looking for a steady supply of vapor that requires little management and emits a safe, high-quality production of fog. So, just what is the magic ingredient that will wow the guests and take the cemetery scene to the next level? Simply put, it is referred to as fog juice. The more technical definition is a blend of glycol and water, which turns into a foggy haze when heated and dispensed under pressure. All you need to do is pour the liquid into the machine and let the appliance do the rest. When the atomized liquid is released into the air, the seemingly complex effect is otherworldly and mystifying. Bring in the Experts Though the ingredients are simple and the activation process is straightforward, using commercial fog machines and accurately measured materials are the best way to guarantee the vapor produced delivers the desired results throughout your event. Fortunately, our specialists have the proper equipment and the exact liquid mixture that will provide a steady stream of mist in a consistent form that is safe for everyone in attendance. The Wright Group has everything you need for the spooky cemetery, the dance floor, and the outdoor concert with years of experience to help you make the best decisions for your event. Whatever the occasion, contact the experts today and get the party started with professional execution and knowledgeable guidance.
